History

One of the history that developed in the Kuta area is the struggle of the Badung people against the colonials in the Puputan War that occurred in 1906. But before the big war, during the Dutch colonial period Kuta was one of the famous ports that was visited by foreign merchants and very profitable for the economy of the Kingdom of Badung at that time. Kuta was also increasingly recognized for being the site of the 1849 Kuta Peace which reconciled the dispute between the Dutch colonial government and the kings of Bali.

How to Get to Kuta

Planning to go to Kuta? Well, you can choose to travel by air or sea transportation. For air transportation, there are many flights from major cities in Indonesia such as Medan, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Balikpapan, Manado, Malang, and other cities to Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung. After arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport, you can continue your journey to Kuta in only about 10 minutes by car or taxi.

For sea transportation, Kuta can also be reached by ship from major cities around Bali, such as from Surabaya, Lombok, Makassar, Ambon, or Merauke which anchored at Benoa Harbor, Denpasar. After that, you can continue traveling by land for approximately 15 minutes until you finally get to Kuta.
